LEAP (Learning Enrichment and Academic Progress)

JPS LEAP (Learning Enrichment and Academic Progress) is a summer learning day-camp experience open to current kindergarten through 4th grade students that runs Monday through Friday, beginning July 10, 2023 and ending Aug. 18, 2023.
The camp includes breakfast and lunch, reading instruction, academic enrichment, engaging activities, and field trips and is made possible through a partnership between the Jamestown YMCA and YWCA and the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown.

Daily Structure

8:30 - Campers arrive at school - parents drop off
8:30 - 9:00: Breakfast (free)
9:00-12:00 - 30 min. Small group reading instruction by district teachers and hands-on learning activities with agency staff
12:00-12:30 - Lunch (free)
12:30-3:00 - Enrichment activities including music, dance, outside scavenger hunts, sports, etc. Virtual visits from the Audubon, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Impact, Infinity, and more. Weekly virtual field trips.
3:00 - Dismissal - parent pick up
3:00-5:00 - Wrap around care may be offered by partner agencies

Q: What if I need after-camp care?
Posted by:A: All students will have the opportunity to participate in wrap-around care if it is being provided in the school building your student attends for camp for an additional fee (DSS subsidies accepted).

Q: Does my child have to attend all 7 weeks?
Posted by:A: We understand that in the summer you may have other obligations but we strongly encourage your child to attend every day possible.

Q: Does my child have to stay the entire day?
Posted by:A: No. Your child can come just for the reading instruction.

Q: Why has my child been asked to participate?
Posted by:A: The teacher believes your child would have fun, enjoy the experience, and improve his/her reading skills!
