  • What is a Learning Lab?

Learning Labs help support groups of educators to grow in their craft in collaboration with one another inside of the school day.  The purpose of a Learning Lab is to learn together about practice and develop shared, collaborative practices. In this spirit, all participants engage in the learning, planning, and enactment of the lesson.

  • Cooperative learning is all about student engagement!  It is an approach to organize classroom activities into academic and social learning experiences. There are over 250 Kagan Structures designed to increase cooperation and communication in the classroom and boost the confidence of students. Cooperative learning is a successful teaching strategy where small teams of students with different ability levels use a variety of learning structures to improve their understanding. Each member of a team is responsible for learning what is taught as well as for helping teammates learn. This creates an atmosphere of achievement!

  • Communities of Practice

Content

  • Communities of Practice (COP) is an ongoing professional development that is headed by district instructional coach, Christina Spontaneo. Teachers who are in common grade levels and who have common goals meet together to learn new instructional practices and strategies in the areas of ELA and Math.  These ideas are then taken back to Fletcher and shared with other teachers at each grade level.  COP helps us learn and grow!
