I was born in Jamestown and grew up not far away in the small village of Randolph. My journey has taken me down many paths from: putting myself through college, working as a computer operator, a factory laborer, a truck driver & delivery person, a finishing artisan in a sculpture foundry, and an athletic retail salesman. Most importantly, I've worked with a wide variety of people whose abilities and disabilities could be championed through learning to express themselves through art.
Making, building, and fixing things has always been a driving force in my life and I believe all humans have an innate need to be creative. However, different circumstances serve to keep us from experiencing it on a daily basis. I believe that creativity is a well-source of higher thinking skills that includes: perception, ideation, problem solving, and action. As a career art teacher, I have been able to share my love of creativity with thousands of students over the past 30 years. I feel very fortunate to have been able to foster opportunities overseeing invention and creation. For me, motivating students to use their minds and hands together in craft has been one of the greatest joys of teaching.
