As a 1980 graduate of Jamestown High School and a proud Red Raider, it is my great pleasure to serve as the principal of this outstanding high school. At JHS, we are proud of our traditions and excited about our future. Listed annually as one of “America’s Best High School” by US News and World Report, we offer a wide range of academic and extra curricular programs with opportunities for all students to succeed, as well as a myriad of support services to ensure that success is attainable for all.
Our music and sports programs have won multiple state championships and achieved national acclaim. We have over twenty-five student clubs and organizations representing the varying interests of our student population. We compete in the large school division for interscholastic sports in top Western New York leagues. Our facilities are second to none, highlighted by Strider Field, the Mac Gymnasium, and the beautiful Merton Corwin Auditorium.
Academically, we offer multiple AP and College Credit Courses and students who enroll these courses can earn enough credits to reduce anywhere from one to four semesters of college. More recently, JHS has established a Career Academy model wherein all students choose from one of six career academies at the end of their ninth grade year. The academy model allows students to choose courses that are closely tied to their career interest area and explore a variety of careers during the four scheduled “Academy Days” during the year.
Whatever your interest may be, I’m sure you will find a welcoming and inviting home at Jamestown High School.
