Mrs. Anderson

Intro to Studio Art, Computer Art and Digital Photography

My name is Mrs. Anderson and I am a member of the art department at JHS. I have been teaching since 1995 and love to introduce students to the exciting world of art. I spent the first 12 years of my teaching career in my home school district in East Stroudsburg, PA. While there, I taught mostly high school classes, including photography, animation, sculpture and many other studio courses. My family and I moved to Jamestown in 2008 and I had the pleasure of being the art teacher at Lincoln and Love Elementary Schools for 11 years. In 2019 I joined the JHS staff.

My main goal in my classes is to give students the skills that they need to be able to enjoy making art and the exposure to different artists and cultures in order to gain a better understanding of the world outside their own. I love to give students enough guidance to feel success and enough freedom to have fun and express individual ideas. My classes follow the New York and National Standards for Visual Arts. Students learn about the elements and principals of art and learn to use these tools to be more sophisticated consumers of the many artforms we see in our world every day.  I hope my classroom is a place students enjoy coming to and at the same time learn a lot.
