Greetings! I love being an English teacher! Reading opens our hearts and minds; writing gives us tools to share our unique voice; speaking and listening helps us to communicate with the world around us. This is my sixteenth year with Jamestown Public Schools, and I’m proud to give back to the community that reared me. My husband, Jay Baehr, youth pastor at Zion Covenant Church, and I are very busy with five children and both very dedicated to empowering and supporting the youth of Jamestown. As a graduate of this high school, I take my job as an educator and mentor very seriously and hope you join me in having high expectations and goals for our students.
With your help, I plan to challenge them to learn how to use reading, writing, speaking, and listening to positively understand and contribute to society. Through a survey of literature from diverse cultures and perspectives, we will discuss issues and practice skills they will need to consider for today’s ever-evolving workplace. As the school year continues, I am confident that students will be able to think for themselves and be one step closer to achieving their goals.
