• What is PBIS?

School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, team-‐based framework for creating and sustaining safe and effective schools. Emphasis is placed on prevention of problem behavior, development of pro-‐social skills, and the use of database problem solving for addressing existing behavior concerns. School-‐ wide PBIS increases the capacity of schools to educate all students utilizing research-‐based school-‐wide, classroom and individualized interventions. PBIS is the framework used throughout Jamestown Public Schools.

  • PBIS at C.C. Ring Elementary School

At C.C. Ring Elementary School we feel that PBIS maximizes academic engagement and achievement for all students. It achieves this  by:

    1. Reducing disciplinary referrals, suspensions and expulsions while increasing academic performance.

    2. Increasing the consistent use of positive teaching and reinforcement strategies for behavior

    3. Using more engaging, responsive, preventive and productive approaches to problematic behavior.

4.Improving supports for students whose behaviors require more specialized assistance (e.g., emotional and behavioral disorders, mental health).
