Jamestown Public Schools served almost 50,000 meals to local children between July 6 and Aug. 14 through its summer meal program.

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has approved the appointment of Michelle Buccola as the next Principal of Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, effective Aug. 26. Buccola, the current assistant principal at Persell Middle School, succeeds Katie Russo, who recently joined the JPS district office as Executive Director of Information & Student Services.

Jamestown Public Schools celebrated the distinguished career of longtime educator and administrator Jessie Joy during the Board of Education’s Aug. 11 meeting, recognizing her retirement after 33 years of service to the district’s students, staff, and families. Joy, the district’s Executive Director of Information and Student Services, officially retired Aug. 12.

Russo, the current principal of Lincoln Elementary School, will succeed Jessie Joy, who is retiring after 33 years of service to the district, including the last 18 years in a cabinet-level position.
