S.G. Love Elementary School recently wrapped up its “Design the Lion” contest — a creative project that invited students to play a key role in selecting Love’s new lion mascot. While the school has long been known as the Love Lions, it had never officially adopted a visual mascot — until now.

Jamestown Public Schools received five awards from the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) as part of its 46th annual Communications Contest. JPS was one of only 64 school districts, BOCES, or organizations across New York state to receive recognition. 

Afterschool program sites across Jamestown Public Schools celebrated the importance of safe, engaging spaces for students beyond the school day as part of the nationwide “Lights on Afterschool” celebration on Oct. 23.
