On Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, PowerSchool informed our leadership team that they experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain PowerSchool student information systems. Jamestown Public Schools was among PowerSchool’s many worldwide clients affected. District officials attended a detailed PowerSchool debrief about the data event to learn more information.

Penny Wars Assembly

Jamestown High School students marked the last day of school before Winter Break with their annual all-school, A Cappella & Penny Wars Assembly on Friday morning in the Merton P. Corwin Auditorium. A longtime tradition, the assembly features a performance by the A Cappella Choir and the final results of the month-long Penny Wars fundraiser. 

JHS A Cappella 100th Anniversary

Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund proclaimed “A Cappella Choir Day” in the City of Jamestown in honor of the choir’s 100th anniversary during the JHS A Cappella & Penny Wars Assembly on Friday. Dec. 20 at Jamestown High School. A longtime tradition, the assembly features a performance by the A Cappella Choir and the final results of the month-long Penny Wars fundraiser.

The annual “Penny Wars” fundraiser — a month-long fundraising competition organized by JHS Student Organization — will help establish the new RISE (Red and Green in Support of Everyone) Fund. The fund aims to provide assistance to JHS students who may have experienced various hardships throughout the school year.

Lincoln students focusing

In a continued partnership with Chautauqua Institution through the Kennedy Center Partners in Education program, Jamestown Public Schools hosted two impactful teacher workshops and student demonstration classes in October. These sessions, which emphasized arts integration, reached approximately 150 educators and 150 students, aiming to enrich learning in both core academic subjects and the arts.

The Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir will present its 100th annual A Cappella Vespers on Sunday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St. Admission is free and a good-will offering will be taken.
