Jamestown High School’s annual “Penny Wars” fundraiser is underway and this year will benefit a local family who recently lost a beloved father, brother, and son.

The Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir will present its 101st annual A Cappella Vespers on Sunday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St. Admission is free and a good-will offering will be taken.

Collaborate. Persevere. Take Risks. That motto anchors Cristin Hockenberry’s math extension classes at Jefferson Middle School — and it’s a mindset that’s changing how students see themselves as mathematicians.

The Jefferson Middle School community came together through its annual “Fall Fest” — a family event organized by the school’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team.

The Jamestown Public Schools family is mourning the loss of Joseph R. DiMaio, a longtime Jamestown High School teacher, coach, and the former president of the JPS Board of Education. Beloved by students, colleagues, and former players alike, “Coach DiMaio” served the district for 45 years. DiMaio passed away Monday, Nov. 17 at the age of 78.
